    Whenever meeting other Final fantasy fans, I have to wonder what brought you to the franchise?

    • Have generation did you start in (e.g. NES (famicom)? SNES (super famicom)?)
    • One particular title that captured you or was it a series?
    For me, I played FF II and III (later corrected to IV and VI in line with the Japanese numbering) back to back and was really my first introduction to the JRPG and I was hooked. Of the too I think VI was the stronger game, but I have more vivid memories of IV because everything was new to me and stuck more.

    In fact one of my favorite video game moments ever comes from IV where I had a strong lead character going into the final boss, but my support characters were not strong enough to withstand more than one attack. I played and died twice trying to keep everyone alive, and then played through a third time, cutting my losses, and burning through every elixer, mega-elixer, and x-potion I had stock piled the entire game. I had literally used my last potion, and would not be able to withstand another hit when the boss was defeated! Nearly knocked the damn SNES off the table when I leapt for joy :)

    Anyways, what seed brought you to FF in general and to FF XIV?

    Allllllllllllll the way back, from the very beginning.

    I suppose it was FFVI that really hooked me though. Given that we'd only gotten I, IV, and VI here in the States before the PSX came along and Squaresoft gave us everything from VII onward, I didn't exactly have a ton of experience with the series. VI was the second one I'd played, as I didn't manage to get my hands on IV until further down the line.



    As for getting into FFXIVARR, I think eleven years with XI would qualify as a good baseline.

    VI was epic as well. After playing them both, VI I remember being the better game, and more powerful story, but Square already had it's hooks into me via IV :)

    That's commitment! FFXI mostly passed me by sadly because it overlapped with college where I had no real gaming equipment... this was buy chose because had watched a couple of friends fail out of school after discovering everquest, WOW, or FFXI (I think those overlapped in time; memory is a bit hazy ;-) )
